Sharpened Wits’ Mission
While we here at Sharpened Wits Studios are largely focused on creating our original short films, we are additionally looking to promote the voices of other young filmmakers by producing their work. If you are making your own short film—or maybe just have an idea for one—and are interested in collaborating with us for production opportunities, please feel free to reach out to us through our contact page! From there, we would love to discuss the possibilities of producing, funding, and collaborating with you on your film!
Partners in Crime
Caroline and Michael partnered up for the first time as the only two try-hards in a high school media production class. Though the start may have been rocky, it didn’t take long to discover their strength as a creative duo. Throughout high school, they created several comedy short films that went on to receive many selections, nominations, and awards at local and national student film festivals.
Get to Know Us…
While watching NBC’s Community for the first time in seventh grade, Caroline realized their love for television, and it didn’t take long for them to jump into filmmaking. During the pandemic, with far too much time on their hands, they began exploring screenwriting and soon discovered a knack for dialogue-based comedy. They found irrepressible inspiration in many comedies, including shows and movies such as Arrested Development, Scott Pilgrim vs. the World, and (as with any other aspiring comedian) Saturday Night Live, which features comedy trio “Please Don’t Destroy” to whom they attribute much of their style.
Now studying Film & Television at NYU Tisch, Caroline itches to enter the film industry with a primary focus on witty comedy as both a screenwriter and an actor. They know they will continue to hone their craft alongside other talented filmmakers and creatives.

Michael DeMar
Ever since he could remember, Michael was mesmerized by the creativity of filmmaking. He was especially inspired by the spectacle of classic blockbusters such as Raiders of the Lost Ark and The Empire Strikes Back, alongside the wholesome wit of comedies such as Ferris Bueller's Day Off and The Muppets. While Michael started making LEGO stop-motion animations at a very young age, he has shifted his focus in the past few years to creating short films and developing his filmmaking craft.
As a filmmaker, Michael enjoys creating projects that are just as comedic as they are visually engaging, with a focus on both satire and absurdity. Michael’s goal is to become a professional director in the industry that embodies the imaginative charm and soul of classic blockbuster filmmaking. Michael, now a senior at Montclair State University majoring in Film & Television, continues to improve his skills as a storyteller / director and collaborate with others by making short films, now under the Sharpened Wits label.
